Northern Obedience Dog Club
Non-profit volunteer based local community dog club offering obedience training classes.
We are staffed by volunteers dedicated to promoting the training and understanding of your dog. Join us and learn how to train your dog to be obedient and companionable, accepted as a true companion in our urban society.
Announcements
Puppy, Foundation, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 train on Sunday mornings. Class 2 and above train on Wednesday nights.
Sunday classes for 2023 have finished. Bookings for Wednesday night 6 December, will open on Thursday 30 November and close on Tuesday night, 5 December.
Non-members do not make a class booking prior to contacting the Club.
Bookings for the Baby Puppy Classes (for puppies aged between 8 to 12 weeks) are currently on hold. Please contact the Club for details.
The Club has made the tuff decision to close off its waiting list for new memberships, until the current back log is resolved.

Northern Obedience Dog Club started in the early 1950’s when a group of people interested in obedience began to meet regularly to train their dogs. We are proud to be the second oldest obedience club in Victoria, with over 600 paying members. Click here for more history.
We welcome handlers over the age of 10 years (with parents’ signed permission & on-the-ground supervision).
Please note that we train on public parkland, so make sure you clear it with your vet first if your puppy is under 16 weeks old. Vaccinated dogs 6 months and older can start in Foundation Class (instead of Puppy Class).
We only accept dogs with valid Vaccination Certificates or a current Antibody Titre Test.
You will need a Club Membership! Simply send an email to northernobedience@gmail.com, to register your interest in wanting join the Club, please mention the age of your dog in the email. There is currently a waiting list to join the Club. Introduction classes are conducted via Zoom.
We’re an affordable non-profit community club staffed by volunteers dedicated to promoting the training and understanding of your dog. We charge a once-off joining fee and a recurring annual membership fee, which gives you unlimited classes for most of the year! Membership includes our NODC Christmas BBQ too.
The Club trains people to train their dogs. Owners with dogs under 6 months start in Puppy Class (Sunday only); and all other members start in Foundation Class. We repeat the same exercises for each level and when you and your dog are ready, you will be promoted to the next level. We also offer Rally Obedience when instructors are available.
