Northern Obedience Dog Club

Non-profit volunteer based local community dog club offering obedience training classes.

We are staffed by volunteers dedicated to promoting the training and understanding of your dog. Join us and learn how to train your dog to be obedient and companionable, accepted as a true companion in our urban society.

With the easing of restrictions, the Club has discussed with Council and Dogs Victoria on how to recommence training.
  • Puppy classes and new members enrolment will continue to be on hold and will be reassessed in mid-July.
  • All classes now require booking in advance; do remember to cancel your booking if you cannot make it. Click here to access our online booking calendar.
  • All class attendance will be tracked and we will be in touch with any no-shows.
For updates on the status of training, please email or call Glenys 0407 523 741.

Welcome & Woof!

Northern Obedience Dog Club started in the early 1950’s when a group of people interested in obedience began to meet regularly to train their dogs. We are proud to be the second oldest obedience club in Victoria, with over 600 paying members. Click here for more history.

We welcome handlers over the age of 10 years (with parents’ signed permission & on-the-ground supervision).

Please note that we train on public parkland, so make sure you clear it with your vet first if your puppy is under 16 weeks old. Vaccinated dogs 6 months and older can start in Foundation Class (instead of Puppy Class).

We only accept dogs with valid Vaccination Certificates or a current Antibody Titre Test.

You will need a Club Membership! Simply walk-in (no booking required) to the Clubhouse without your dog, from Sunday 9:15am – 9:45am to register; then all new members must attend the 10:00am Introduction Class. All you need to bring is your dog’s vaccination certificate and payment.

We’re an affordable non-profit community club staffed by volunteers dedicated to promoting the training and understanding of your dog. We charge a once-off joining fee and a recurring annual membership fee, which gives you unlimited classes for most of the year! Membership includes our NODC Christmas BBQ too.

The Club trains people to train their dogs. Owners with dogs under 6 months start in Puppy Class (Sunday only); and all other members start in Foundation Class. We repeat the same exercises for each level and when you and your dog are ready, you will be promoted to the next level. We also offer Rally Obedience when instructors are available.
